Yesterday, here.

Taken a few days ago leaving home on my way to work, with my new Nikkor 35mm f1.8 prime lens.

Stitched together with Hugin out of five upright photos. Have a look at this photo on Flickr, too.

Martin Bailey did this at the beginning of this year, and I think this is an interesting way to hold on a moment and photographically reflect the last year.

It is not easy. I have months where I had difficulties to choose even one photo as I did not shoot much and the photos I shot aren’t photographically worth to be selected. Anyway I tried to select one representative photo for each month of 2008.

There is only one advantage of the daylight saving time: I have the chance to see the sunrise twice in spring and fall. Just as the sun rises too early for me to see it on my way to work, we put our clock one hour forward. Same in fall, just as the mornings are too dark, we put hour clock one hour back.

It is interesting how the position of the sun changes. The “greener” panorama was shot in september, 2008. The other one as the two images above, too a few weeks ago. Same same but different, as the people in Thailand are used to say. Same time, same place, different season.

I used different focal lengths also, as you can see. The upper one is made with the 14mm wide angle lens.

More of my way to work in my gallery.

About three weeks ago we did an excursion to the Isteiner Schwellen. There is a short article on Wikipedia in german, too. This is a nice place of rapids at the old arm of the Rhine near Basel and Freiburg im Breisgau. As this is a natural protection area there are a lot of birds there.

The heron was feed with meat by people who come there every day. Unfortunately, a lot of the photos I shot of the heron are not focused well or do have motion blur. The one published here is the only one more or less sharp.

Mainly I made some wide angle shots here — disregarding the photographs of the birds. Sometimes using my hat as “tripod”.

I have some more photos of those days in Freiburg in my Gallery.

A lot of snow.
